Rina was born an only child to Sheldon and Evelyn Merchada in Manhattan, New York. Overwhelmed with the rushed, bustling lifestyle, her parents moved to Rhode Island when Rina was five years old. Except for what her family and photographs told her, she remembers little of her time in New York and considers Rhode Island her home. She currently commutes from home and attends a nearby university majoring in art.

Even upon first meeting people notice that Rina can hardly sit still. Harboring a short attention span, she thrives on excitement. She always looks out for new opportunities to test her boundaries or simply to entertain her. She tends to dabble in various interests such as sports and music, but nothing keeps her attention as well as art. Obviously a right-brained individual, she started drawing and painting at a young age. Her artistic inclination drew her to sewing and Japanese cartoons and comics, and she often attends conventions in self-sewn costumes. Guessing from Rina’s effervescence, she may not seem the type to regularly visit the Daily Grind, but she believes sticking around for the entertainment inspires her own art. Plus, she’s a coffee-holic. See what they mean by her inability to sit still?

Rina is a friendly, energetic person. Ever the optimist, she prefers to see the good in people and situations. Because of her half-full outlook, she can come across as too trusting and naïve, but also open to new ideas. She sports an eccentric, childlike demeanor despite her legal age, and she easily becomes interested and soon disinterested in many things introduced to her. Often wearing a beaming smile on her face, her positive attitude can either be contagious or excessive depending on the person on the receiving end of their exchange.
